A Glad Tiding

In Genesis chapter 3, immediately after man's fall both Adam and Eve realized that they were not very good (Gen 3:7); they had to cover themselves with man-made things. They also knew that they had violated God's prohibition against eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge and that the result of their transgression was to be death (Gen 2:17). Therefore, they hid themselves from the Lord's presence (Gen 3:8), awaiting the sentence of death. However, God came in, not to condemn them, but told them (c) FreeFoto.com " I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." (Gen 3:15)

Adam and Eve were waiting for death in fear and trembling, thinking themselves to be under the sentence of death. They thought it was impossible for them to have a seed because they were doomed to die immediately. So when Adam suddenly heard that the woman was going to have a seed, he called his wife's name Eve (Gen 3:20), which in Hebrew means "living."  When he heard God's promise to them, Adam spontaneously said, "Living. You are not dying, you are living. Your name is Eve. You are living." This is really a glad tiding to Adam; a gospel to man. God did not come to men to condemn men, but to bring life to men; which is His ultimate and only goal. Today let us stop trying to cover ourselves, just let God come to "Living" us!!
